backTurbine Blade Failure Analysis
The images depicted above outlines a redesign and optimization project do to blad failure. A
PSI client was experiencing premature cracking failures in the first stage
turbine blades in their land based gas turbine engine. A premature failure is extremely costly in terms
of both downtime and maintenance expense. PSI was able design a superior cooling scheme for the blade which
is anticipated to improve part life by a factor of 5X.
